Clinical Director Dr. Carly Aquilina DPsych Clinical Director and Senior Psychologist MPPB Warrant 132 Carly is the founding director of The Psychology Clinic and The Child Psychology Clinic, providing psychological services, assessment and treatment of the highest quality to children, adolescents and adults. She is a highly specialist Psychologist warranted with the Malta Psychology Profession Board (MPPB). She was registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the Australian Psychological Society. She has gained several years of clinical experience treating individuals, across the lifespan, experiencing a wide range of mental health and circumstantial difficulties both in Malta and overseas (Australia and the UK). She is experienced as a clinical supervisor and continues to be involved in the training and supervision of psychologists and mental health clinicians. She has held a number of senior positions in a diverse range of settings which include mental health services, schools, GP surgeries, child and adolescent specialist services and hospital in-patient services. She specialises in treating depression, anxiety, stress, phobia, anger, post traumatic stress disorder, somatic difficulties, obsessive compulsive disorder, depersonalisation, eating disorders, chronic pain, low self esteem, chronic fatigue, relationship difficulties and difficulties with anger management. Carly is also specialised in child and adolescent mental health and parenting. She is a skilled practitioner utilising an integrative treatment approach based on cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, systemic, psychodynamic and person centred paradigms within a time-limited and focused framework. She has experience working with emotional and behavioural difficulties in childhood and adolescence, autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and other developmental difficulties including difficulties with toileting, eating and sleep. Carly has held various positions as specialist trainer and lecturer at Monash University (Australia) and the University of Surrey (UK).She has delivered training to parents in assisting them in managing their children's behaviours and assisting with their psychosocial development. She has published academic papers on her research and practice in eminent peer-reviewed scientific journals and presented at international conferences.
